40 Weeks!

The last few nights have been interesting. Not a lot of sleep and due to the acrobatics of mini-Lee (night-owl!) and my inability to get comfortable (given my current size, I shouldn't be surprised). Also a few contractions. Things are progressing, though, and I think it's going to be just a few more days until the bambino makes its way into the world.

We had another sonogram today to check size (but didn't get to come home with any photos). Size has definitely increased, but the margin of error is 26 oz either way, so it's still unclear just how big he/she will be. The baby did stick it's tongue out at us (so we know it's going to be just like us), and made some kissey faces (which it's been doing at every opportunity). Get ready world - here comes a cutie!

38 Weeks today!

I'm 38 weeks today, and definitely feeling like baby is just around the corner. My mom came up for a few days to help me clean the house (and by help, I mean I sat on the sofa, and she cleaned my house - THANKS MOM!) She also made dinner one night, and gave Jacob a much-needed rest. We were both really happy that she came for a visit.

We also had our last sonogram yesterday (37 weeks, 6 days) to determine size, and make sure everything looked good (which it did). This sonogram was not on as fancy a machine as others have been, but we did see a lot of baby's mouth moving and making kissing faces. We also saw the umbilical chord (it looks like bubbles in the upper center of the photos below). We saw its hand near its mouth and a few other little tidbits. The sonographer was able to see that our baby has hair already (sorry for those of you in the baby pool who guessed 'bald'), and the weight is looking just fine (we have a number that it is estimated to weigh now, but that could change!)

Sitting tight and waiting...

Week 36 (+2 days)

So this was me last Sunday (at 35 weeks 4 days) at the amazing shower thrown by my dear friend Claire (and 'the aunties').

I look pregnant, but not ridiculous:

Every day this week, I've gotten (I swear) exponentially larger.

This is how I look today (36 weeks +2 days). I just can't see how I'm going to continue to grow until my February 14 due date (nearly a month from now!) That said, at my last doctor's appointment they confirmed that I'm measuring normally.

Of course technically, I'd be considered 'full term' starting at 37 weeks (next week!), and baby can come anytime between 37 and 42 weeks. I'm amazed at how much I've changed and how much changing is yet to come.

Week 34: Happy New Year!

Another two weeks and another growth spurt. I don't know how much bigger I'll get, but over the remaining six weeks the baby will gain a half pound a week (at least!) The average baby at this point weighs slightly more than four pounds - I have a feeling it is more than that now.

The last two weeks were really fun - lots of friends and family. The next week is mellow in comparison - doctor appointments, tidying up loose ends, and then my last trip to the Bay Area (January 10-12) before the baby comes. Then the waiting begins in earnest . I'm trying to take it one day at a time and to remember that this is the final stretch (literally) of my pregnancy.

Here's to 2014 !

32 Weeks

So it seems there was a growth spurt in the last two weeks (no, I am not sticking my stomach out for the camera. Mini-Lee has definitely gotten bigger, and is moving around much more. I'm able to feel where exactly it is in my body now, and so can Jacob (and I suppose, anyone else who happens to man-handle my stomach). It's kind of fun, but is uncomfortable at times. I'm certainly more awkward when I move - but move I must! We're starting to work on the nursery (yeah fun!), with some of the big furniture already in place (crib, changing table, rocking chair, and rocking horse!)

The next few weeks will involve a lot of walking/swimming/yoga (I can almost do a squat while keeping my heels down, which I've been working on this week, despite having a pretty nasty cold). There will also be a lot of family and friends, Jacob's former employer holiday party in Monterey (basically, our baby-moon), and continuing to get used to my ever-changing body. Hope to see you during the holidays!

30 Weeks!

So I got a little behind with posting bi-weekly photos...between thanksgiving and doctor's appointments I don't know where the time seems to go. Anyway, In the last month I seem to have exploded somewhat belly-wise. Lots of very strong kicks and tummy rumblings Kick Kick Kick!

26 Weeks: November 7

Things are a-changing! (but thankfully, not my due date - Nurse Mary says I'm right on track). But, I feel like I've grown faster in the last two weeks, and this week baby was moving a lot more (hence, mama  is not getting a lot or very high quality sleep). I also started some new exercises - Prenatal Yoga - and have been doing some swimming at the Y (which has been great for more sore, aching muscles).

Here's how a looked this morning:
